Positive Flashes: Should Marriage Be Timed?

Should Marriage
Be Timed?

Some people have opined
Marriage need not be timed
I disagree because it’s misleading
Everything in life has its time
Failure to recognise this and plan
Will lead to old age discomfiture
Our youthful retirement should be fun
If we marry too early we will lose the joy of our youth
If we marry too late,
We might lose the joy of our old age
Retirement should be fun
Without pressing responsibilities,
But late marriage  will create problems for us at old age!
To emphasize this probability
Let us use the model below with the following standard assumptions

·       We are in Nigeria
·       The current Retirement age in  is 60 years
·       There are five fathers
·      They got married variously  at 25,30,33,35 and 37 respectively.
·       All five fathers began rearing children a year later
·       Each father produces not more than four children
·       They train their children only up to the 1st Degree
·       The children complete their education on schedule
·       Youth service isn’t part of their father’s care-period
·       Whether the five fathers
·       are employees or employers,
·       their target is to retire at 60 years.
·       Each of them married only one wife
·       All are responsible father who want to enjoy their retirements.
All things being equal, the bold, blue figure against each name below represents the age at which each father will produce a graduate!
Marriage Model
Age of Father At Marriage
Ages the fathers gave birth to the four children
Age Child of father 1 when  child 1  leaves  Primary, |Secondary, Tertiary institutions,
Age of father when
Child 2 leaves Primary,Secondary & Tertiary Institututions
Age of father when
Child 3 Leaves primary, secondary and Tertiary institutution.
Age of father when Child 4  leaves primary, secondary and Tertiary institututions

Positive Flashes: Creating Wealth

Creating Wealth

Asking people to save
For the rainy day
Is not a strange advice
To anybody
But the majority of us
Lack any ideas
Of where to keep such money
To yield an expected bountiful return
Some people have tried the banks
Which have resulted in failures.
Some tried other means
With the same fate
But in the advanced countries
They have since understood the secret
Of where to grow their savings
They have decided to release the secrets
Robert G. Allen, in his book
“Multiple streams of Income”
, has this to say:“...change your attitude about money”
“Day in, day out,
Save, Invest, Save,
Invest. It might be boring,
It might be dull,
It might be hard to do.
No matter what it takes,
Just do it”
In the various inspirational books
In the market today
The truth is that we have been tardy
At unraveling the hidden treasures
Deposited in such golden books
Anyone who is not promoting such knowledge
Would continue to live in the past
Are you among such people?
Repent of your sins against yourself
Begin today to read the books
They are too numerous to list herein
Start with the Holy Bible
King David’s (psalms)
King Solomon’s (Ecclesiastes, Proverbs),
All these great men of God
Have something to tell you
About wealth creation
Deuteronomy 29:29 says :
“Hidden things belong unto the Lord
but those revealed belong unto us”
This is a treasure
No book has ever revealed to man
Proceed to “The Richest Man in Babylon”
Written  by Classons
Read George Allen’s
“Multiple Streams of Income”
Nearer home,
Read Yemi Omogboyega’s
“Family Budgeting – A Must For Your Home”
Then open your eyes wide
Because millions
Of other equally inspiring books
Are vended in the traffic jam,
They are in the bookshops
They are all over the place
Buy them and read them up
Your life will surely
Be transformed
For the better.
All these sources
Are releasing the secrets
Which those who made it before us
Had shielded
From us all in the past!

The Meaning of “Help”

The Meaning of “Help”

To some people,
The word “help” means
“Take on, ALL my burdens off me”
That’s wrong notion
Stretched too far
Rather, the local expression
Only connotes an assistance
Or aid
To somebody
To achieve a set goal.
‘Help’ is particular and pragmatic,
It doesn’t mean total dependence
On the helper
For the helper
Do have his own problems too
‘Help’ is a booster
To specific, genuine effort
To better some life
To become independent.
The gesture should be seen
As a soothing balm
To the strains
In the path to progress.

Created Rugged!

Created Rugged!

Nigerians are a unique people
Created rugged and resilient
Able to adapt to any condition
Whatever the vagaries in cost of living
They absorb the pains gamely
Taking everything in their strides
Their life is lived lackadaisically
With fans, air conditioners, switched on
While the windows are carelessly opened
Whether there’s electric power or not.
Nigerians will always survive!

The Policemen’s Dilemma

The Policemen’s

Dilemma

Of all the security agencies in Nigeria
The Police is the most traumatised
Rejected by the people they police
Rejected by their own Government
Rejected even by their own families
Their barracks are a weary environment
The most populated by,
Mostly unplanned children!
Insufficiency has been their lot
In an occupation –
the most risky of all jobs
Ye their enemies know them
While they know not all their enemies!
So their lives are subject
To abrupt termination at any time
Their remuneration
Is incommensurate and in arrears
To minimise  the imbalance
They resort to unbecoming practices
At unlikely places along the highways
Often unwillingly demeaning their consciences.
Frustration breeds bad conscience
When film makers seek to depict the poor professional in the society
The police or the Teacher
Is a ready illustration
Although the teachers
Are fighting for their rewards
Here upon the surface of the earth!)
Both professions
Deserve better deals

Though police, move so
To get the desired redressing
Not only from government
But the society too
Who treat them contemptuously
Urgently, police should improve themselves
With academic
And spiritual knowledge
Enough of poor recruits!
People-police harmony overdue
Police must stop inebriating
Must stop breeding like pigs
And invest in family and future
Knowing their hazardous career
They must look beyond career prospects
And gird themselves with God’s insurance
Such would restore their relevance
To self and their Creator
And stop their stigmatization
As poorly, ignorant and failures.

Women's Positive Thinking Quotes

but often we look so long at the closed
door that we do not see the one which has been opened for
 us..... Helen Keller

"One is happy as a result of one's own efforts,

self denial to a point, love of work, and,
above all, a clear conscience"..... George Sand

to familiarize the strange and mystify the familiar,
is the test of their power"..... Toni Morrison

Positive thinking quote from the 2008 book, Finding Your Soul in the
Spirituality Maze: "Therefore, be a liberal or conservative if that be your
choice. However, both are frequently unhappy life stances that
often emphasize the negative and thus attract more negative
experiences and people. Remember the general
rule: you get more of what you concentrate on

Between Humility and Arrogance

".. .Unfortunately sometimes, other people feel superior to others and treat specific classes of others as being little more than human.  Especially, I have noticed that this happens to some individuals as soon as they can append Ph.D or M.D after their names.  In their mind, it is as if the degree or title elevates them above others.  Yet, no matter how famous they become or how much they achieve, we do well to remember that they are still the same peole they were before they had the degree after their name." Ben Carson in "Think Big" p. 194

There's just a very thin line between humility and arrogance.  We are all born humble but develop the traits of arrogance by what happen to us in life, some of which are: the kinds of trainings we receive from our parents, the leadership examples imbibed from our parents, the kinds of group we keep, the positions we hold in our offices, the grades we make in our academic exploits, how successful we are in our marriage and/or  business endeavours, how knowledgeable we are and so on.  All these are matters that influence who we are and how we behave - not that we were born with them.

For instance have you seen a day old baby arguing or puffing up before his or her parents?  No. It cannot be. Indeed most children don’t really show signs of arrogance until their teenage years when they suddenly discover that they are as tall if not taller than their parents or when they, through peer pressure, the begin to exhibit strange behaviours that are alien to their home background.

Many challenges bordering upon arrogance  are easier to combat, except ‘riches'.   The Bible says: “A rich man answers harshly” while poor man is humbled by his poverty.  What gave the rich guy that 'impatient'  attitude?  It his realisation that he has financial capacity more than others to meet certain demands, if not he would be as humble as the rest.  Let’s all admit, unless Christ indwells in us, it is impossible to be rich and yet be humble.  Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit will constantly remind us that even though we are rich, we are not an inch better than other people who are not and will constantly tell us ‘come low, come low’, or ‘humble yourself’.

Therefore, when God begins to bless you, always remember, it is a grace.  Also remember that members of your family or your friends who are yet to hit their goldmines have their own 'appointed' time to do so.

So in your behaviour, you should always ‘come low’ to the level of everybody (educated or illiterate, rich or poor, high or low).  Respect elders and let those junior to you be motivated so that both categories of people can see the glory of God in your life.  Let your poor friends realise that you're still a human being like them who have affectionate feelings.

The thin line between humility and arrogance is that  voice (Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit) that reminds us to ‘come low’. Obey that voice today and always! And it shall be well with you continuously.  Remember anyone staying away from Jesus finds it difficult to be humble.

Good morning.

You Can Inspire (or Kill) People!

We are all differently gifted. On the positive side, some people have the gift of giving, some of speaking, some of teaching, some of visitation, some of making people happy, some of preaching, some of good counsel, some of turning stones to bread!  There are some people, who, no matter how down one is, their presence or appearance, even without necessarily uttering a word, lifts the spirit!  Such people need to be present in many places to inspire people!

Likewise, on the negative, some are sorrow carriers,  gossipers while some have evil viruses that infect anyone they come in contact with.  Some are just impossible people and they enjoy being just that.

Positive or negative, it is a matter of which side of the coin we want to belong. We can always change at will. Someone on the positive side, might suddenly change to the negative while those on the negative might decide to go the other way.

There was this lady colleague of the writer. She was very aggressive, uncooperative. She can look at anybody, not matter his or her status in the face. If the environment had been peaceful, the moment she came in, it would turn uneasy.

One day, as we were discussing she told us her story. She said she started out life being humble, quiet and very enduring. Indeed she was a very shy person who could not look at anybody in the face. But that one day she just decided to become bold, aggressive, and so on. Unfortunately the time she did this was a crucial stage of her life when she needed to be well-behaved so she could receive favour from the network of people she related with both for marriage and career development etc. Unfortunately, people were scared by her attitude such that promotion, marriage etc eluded her!

That's to say that we all have the tendency to change. But it's a matter of choice. Which side of the divide are you today? If negative, choose to change to the positive. If positive, choose to remain consistent. YOU CAN DO IT! JUST DO IT! IT IS BENEFICIAL FOR YOU TO DO IT.

Remember to read your Bible and pray today. Have a nice day.
