Let's Encourage One Another - Daily Energiser's Special Feature

I once gave out a copy of my autobiography “Better Tomorrow” to a colleague named Mary. After reading it, she said, to me: “your book is so much like Ben Carson’s “Gifted Hands” I have just read – so blessing, so practical” Indeed, I’d bring the book for you to read.” And she did. As at then, I’ve only heard of Ben Carson’s great writings but have never read any of them. After reading “Gifted Hands”, I got the many messages Mary was trying to pass across to me. The greatest of which are that Bennie and I are a product of harsh environments and would want to share such to encourage others who care to be encouraged.

Not only that, as a Minister in Charge of Teenagers in our Church, I had organised seminars based on “Gifted Hands” where we read the entire book itself and listened to its digital audio. We have discussed it extensively and all my teenage children in the church had been inspired by Ben’s life. I have bought it as prize gifts. Finally, convinced that Ben Carson’s life story is more than just a story book, I ensured that the children met physically with Ben Carson at Tafawa Balewa Square sometime in 2008 when he was in Nigeria.

This much I did with Ben Carson’s book. Much more have I done with my own book “Better Tomorrow” earlier mentioned with these lucky children and I am happy to see them inspired. Thereafter, I have read Bennie's “Take The Risks”. I am currently reading “Think Big” anxious to read “The Big Picture” and any book Ben would ever write when am alive. I have shared some important statistics on risks analysis model B/WA (any many of Ben's important postulations with you my readers through daily energiser.

The greatest challenge we have in our part of the world is that we take things for granted. No doubt many of us are very knowledgeable but we deprive those who would have benefited (including our biological children) from that wealth of knowledge the opportunity to do so by not sharing them either writing or through seminars. Many young people’s lives would have today been transformed for the better if only we imbibe this.

No doubt Ben and I are identical in the sense that whatever we know we wish to share to advance other people. My discovery is that we are probably ruled by our life’s experiences but I tend to disagree with myself because there are many people who grew up in worse situations (who later overcame) and whose lives would have advanced the world but who refused to share such experiences.

How many Nigerian Doctors today will share their medical practice experiences with their juniors talkless of the younger generation who would have become better doctors than they are? This is applicable to other professionals as it is to medicine.

Why don’t we all, for once, set aside whatever is inhibiting us from blessing others and begin from now to reach out to others to inspire them. There’s nothing more inspiring than real-life experiences that are shared with those who are still in the waiting to experience such. Those inspired will be grateful for what you did for them and they are likely to copy you to inspire others. This is the essence of man’s existence! Hear what Ben says about sharing experiences in the introductory part of his book “Think Big”: ”God endowed me with ability but I would never have been cognizant of those gifts or used them of others had not taken time to SHARE their talents by giving their best to me”.

How do I share my experiences? Tell it to those nearest to you. Start with your own children. Write them in book form for those who are far away. BLOG THEM to the entire world just as I am blogging my daily energiser to you.  Organise seminars. Share them in your worship centres. Tell them to friends, colleagues, etc.

In the next few days, I am going to do what I am preaching by sharing a few chapters of my book "Better Tomorrow" through "Daily Energiser". If they bless you, use it to bless others...

Good morning.

Let's Make the World Better

And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.
Luke 8:15

Without the word of God that is melting down our iron hearts, man is not better than wild animals. Ironically even with the heart-melting words of God that we hear, imagine how we still behave. The Bible says a man who commits adultery lacks understanding. But imagine a 'sane' man or woman practising homosexualism or lesbianism! Imagine a Church of God admitting them for 'weddings'. Imagine man kidnapping fellow man for ritual and feeding purposes! Imagine a man in authority fixing public funds in his private accounts first before giving any thought to serving the public that elected him to the post. This same man pays his tithes, offerings and is offered the highest seats in the front of our churches! There's no end to imagining the barbarism of man.

One just wonders what the world would have been like if there's no word of God. It would have been wilder than the world of the wildest animals!

Looking at what Jesus teaches us in the passage above is that it is not the much of the sermons we hear nor our regularity in worship centres, but those who retain in their hearts and DO what they heard from the word of God are people that are Godly. I am searching out myself. How about you? This life can be a better place for all if only we do what is right. Good morning.

Disappointed in Christ?

20 John’s two disciples found Jesus and said to him, “John the Baptist sent us to ask, ‘Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?’ ” And tell him, ‘God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.*’”

The challenge before believers is that contrary their expectations, things are never rosy even in spite of their belief in Christ. This has disappointed many. John the Baptist got to this point and he had to ask questions. Many of us are asking such questions today. Jesus' answer did not even seem to help him. Why? Because it is a struggle with destiny. John has fulfilled his destiny by proclaiming Christ. It does not matter to God and Jesus really how he died! Jesus cried allowed "My God, My God why do you forsake me!". He was forsaken by God because be has to fulfil destiny.

Are you asking questions about what is happening to you now? Find out first whether you have fulfilled your purpose. It may not matter to God what's happening now to you, if it has to do with fulfilling your destiny. As for me I have accepted this Jesus whether he comes to my rescue or not. How about you? Good morning.

Accessing God's Compassion

"At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer* was sick and near death. When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave. So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said, “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.”... "“I tell you, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!”. Luke 7:3-5 & 9

There's no rigid rule by which a man is saved. However Humility faith and work are very close to the heart of God. This kind (even to his slave!) humble (before Jesus) Roman Officer was valued by the people (because of his good works - 'he even built us a synagogue'. Jesus saw faith in him because he assured Jesus that whatever he says he believed it will happen. So man and God (Jesus) testified to the works and faith of this man. Both testimonies earned him a miracle.

How are you remembered today by God and by man? Assuming these two criteria were to be used to assess you today for a potential miracle, can your faith and works earn you God's compassion? Good morning.

Always Doing Wrong!

Why are we always doing the opposite, even when it is obvious that we are injuring ourselves? Let's take a few examples:

Worship God. We worship idols!
Trust in me. We trust in our ability!
God wants us to love but we prefer to hate!
God wants us to give but we prefer to receive!
Brown Sugar, Schacarin and honey are safer for anyone above 40 years but we prefer the white Sugar instead!
Unripe plantain is better for us but we prefer the ripe ones!
Vegegable soup is better for us but we prefer Fried Stew
From above 40, or those with traces of raised bp, salt alternative is better than Salt but we prefer Salt itself
Exercise is good for the body but we don't exercise!
Abakaliki and Ofada local rice are better for us but we prefer Uncle Benz!
Boiled Egg is better but we prefer fried one!
Hard work is better but some prefer to be lazy or to cheat!
"Drink water from your own well.., but we prefer someone to do so from someone else's well!
Husbands, love your wives and provide for them. They become dependent upon their women and beat them up on top of it!
Wives, SUBMIT to your husbands. They challenge their husbands
Stay away from cultism but youths enjoy joining them!
Anger destroys our health and takes people to hell but we find it hard not to be angry!
Love your children but instead we provoke them!
Love your enemy but we prefer to hate them!
Go for knowledge but people prefer ignorance!
Retire early but we prefer to alter our ages to retire late!
Corruption is bad we all know but all of us are engaged in one form of corruption or the other! We justify it when it favours us!
(Please expand the list as you deem fit)
A labourer deserves his wages. Masters exploit and do not pay their workers!

There must be something intrinsically wrong with man that makes him never to accept what benefits except that which destroys him! We are all guilty! Aren't we? Good morning.

Genuine Love Covers Offences

Rom. 3:23 tells us "For all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God". But John 3:16 makes us understand that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God always practically demonstrates what He means when He asks us to do or not to do something. If He were to make use of our sins, according to Rom. 3:23, no one would qualify for salvation. But because His love covereth the multitude of our sins, John 3:16 gave us salvation and even makes it voluntary "whosoever believes in Him".

It is our own turn to let go the sins of our fellow brethren and deal with them in love. It is only in love there's gain. Counting of sins against outselves produces anger and anger produces bad things like poor state of health and finally hell. Good morning.

ALIBI

The legal terminology Alibi, in literary term, means 'not present' during the course of the happening of an event under investigation. Let's take an example. A suspect, Ajoke Njemanze Haruna, a native of Mbaise Ekiti, Ekiti Province in Imo State, a reknowned goat stealer, is being tried for stealing a goat in that province. As at the date and time the offence was committed, Ajoke Njemanze was physically in Ibadan. All she needs to tell the court is: "My Lord, how could I have stolen a goat in Mbaise Ekiti Imo State when I was physically at No. 2 Mokola way Ibadan, Oyo State at the time of the commission of the offence at Mbaise Ekiti, Imo State?" All that she needs do is prove that she was actually at Ibadan when the crime occurred. Once she has done this successfully, she will be set free by the court on the grounds that she cannot be present in two places at the same time. This is notwithstanding the fact that she is a known goat stealer in the past! What she has pleaded is alibi.

Ajoke has told an incontrovertible truth based on the history of her whereabouts during the couse of the crime being tried. So history is truth and truth is history. It is when we try to bend it that we create a struggle for ourselves.

Therefore let's be truthful in our dealings. There are two ways we can make do wrong (by mistake or by temptation). Many of us can avoid the former but the latter is where our strengths differ just as a rat cannot resist the snare simply because of the presence of palm-kernel on it.
However, when we make a mistake or fall into temptation, let our history reveal that it was a genuine mistake or we are tempted! Let's humbly admit our errors and apologise for them.

The canopy of history is so transparent that there is no place at all to hide under it! Good morning.

Don’t Forget Your Root

3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. Luke:2:3-5

Many modern parents (and youths alike) make the mistake not only alienating themselves from their roots but they make their off springs rootless. This is rampant even amongst born-again Christians who should know better. They find spiritual excuses abscond from their roots.

The passage quoted above is instructive; Joseph, a descendant of King David had to return to Bethlehem in Judea, his ancient home to be counted amongst his people. The trend now is that peo;e live and die in foreign lands - strangers alive and their bodies remain 'strange' to their graveyards.

Don't be part of such people.Instead, integrate with your people and be part of the development of your village. Good morning.

FAVOUR & MERCY

"Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!*”
... “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found FAVOR with God! ...And when her (Elizabeth)neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had been very merciful to her, everyone rejoiced with her. Luke 1:30 & Luke 1:58

Even though Elizabeth and Mary were virgins, they weren't chosen exclusively to bear John and Jesus because of that. No, there were many other virgins and righteous people all over the place. But Elizabeth and Mary were chosen because they found (Elizabeth), (MERCY) and (Mary), FAVOUR with God. Belive this: no matter what you are going through now, I assure you that before this year comes to an end,God will shower His mercy upon you and His favour shall bring good news. Everyone shall come and rejoice with you in Jesus' name. Amen. Good morning.

Alcohol: A Litmus test for the Unwary

For the unwary men and women alike, alcohol is a litmus test. It tempts them both almost the same way. A drunkard is shameless but considers himself decent; foolish but considers himself wise. Insensitive but considers himsef conscious of his environment; weak but considers himself strong. He is a mock who considers himself respected! He is sorrowful but considers himself happy.

Now hear what the Bible says says about alcohol in Prov. 23:29-35.

29 Who has anguish? Who has sorrow? Who is always fighting? Who is always complaining?Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 It is the one who spends long hours in the taverns, trying out new drinks.
31 Don’t gaze at the wine, seeing how red it is, how it sparkles in the cup, how smoothly it goes down.32 For in the end it bites like a poisonous snake;it stings like a viper. 33 You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things.34 You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a swaying mast.35 And you will say, “They hit me, but I didn’t feel it.
I didn’t even know it when they beat me up.When will I wake up so I can look for another drink?”

Can we fault all these? Yet we are all tempted to go for alcohol, even some 'priests' don't mind doing it in moderation! Alcohol is a litmus test us all. Only the wise can pass it by staying away from it.

Sex, A Litmus Test For Men

Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife.* Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone?* You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. Pro. 5:15-17

The snares before men are are many but: Sex, Money and Power stand out. Maybe the fourth is Alcohol so lets tag them SMPA! Hardly can any man pass these tests, especially the first three (SMP). You don't know a humble man until you try him with money and power. You don't know a man who will survive the temptation of alcohol until he attains position of power and is wealthy. At that point, he is psychologically drunk and needs to top it with the 'finest brew' to be able to do certain things he ordinarily would not do. He may even add SMOKING to it!

Let's look at sex. No doubt men (even those born impotent or made impotent) generally admire women. However, most often, in men's hearts, these admiration go beyond simply appreciating beauty. It affects their hearts and minds.

Show me any man who says 'no woman appeals to me' and I will show you' two persons:a liar or a one-time playboy who, like King Solomon, had seen it all and become 'born-again'. For instance the hardest Pastors on sex issues are those who had once been playboys but later repented. So they hate tend to hate every appearance of sin. The very few who are prileged not to have experienced sexual wilderness are cautious because they know it is just by Grace and that the traps are still there waiting for them and the concern is when and whether the same grace that saw them thus far would avail them when eventually tempted! It doesn't matter whether they are married or single!

The true experience of average men is that some struggle to hold back, most cannot so they let lose. However, no man is exempted from at least one of the categories.

Both the old and new testament condemn those who could not hold back on sex. Jesus, in the new testament condemns those who could hold back (know what I mean?) So either way, man is the loser. He is confined to his 'cistern' to drink from but in reality, he always jumps out of that cage either physically or in his minds!
So sex is a litmus test for men. May God just have mercy on them! Good morning.

A Struggle With Destiny?

In Mark15:33-34, the Bible records: "At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 34 Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”*

Life is tough! As individuals, because of the challenges we are facing, many of us are asking that same question today. As a nation, we are asking "God, why did you allow these corrupt people to continue to oppress the populace?" At the global level the question is: Lord, "Why did You, as a loving Father, allow meltdown to happen at all?"

God's destiny for us is greater and better than we can imagine but there must be a struggle to attain it. Jesus, our Saviour is a good example of what you and I are facing today. At a point He had to 'give up the ghost' to attain his destiny. Therefore resign into God's hands and let Him do with you as He pleases. Good morning.

Best/Worst Analysis for Nigeria Remaining One

If Nigeria remains one the BEST that will happen to us are: with the abundance of human and material resources we are endowed with, we shall become a world power one day.

If we break up the country into pieces the WORST we shall have more pockets of problems that we currently have. We will surely lose everything we stand to gain if we remain indivisible. There will surely be some 'Middle-East' spots as we divide ourselves that will never allow all of us to enjoy the peace we are seeking for by breaking up the country.

As far as the writer is concerned, he will opt-in for a one strong and united Nigeria. How about you? Good morning.

==========================================================

Don't let me refer you to the myriads of the world's religions and their offerings.  Let me not bother you with the inter and intra-religious struggles going on amongst religionists.  All these may not interest you.  But one question i need to ask you is: has it ever occurred to you that the world is meaningless?  Another one: people talk about God, god or gods, not so?  Let's ask further probing questions about these God or god(s).  If they exist then, who created them? Who created who created them? Who created who created who created them? Keep on asking - for I too have asked myself!  Now, someone (Darwin he is called) wanting to find an answer to creation postulated the Evolutionary or the 'Big Bang' theorem which says man developed from as tiny as a single cell organ like amoeba and has evolved over time and through different stages to become the man we see today - so no God created anything!  This theory was acclaimed but let us ask another question: what preceeded the 'big bang' that metamorphorsed into the 'evolutionary' theorem by Darwin?  Something must preceed something.  There is an infinite beginning.  We only know of NOW.  There is also an infinite tomorrow!  What has all these questions led us all to?  More and more confusions until our minds are totally blurred inside out!

Now why don't we just start our lives by begining with a belief system that there's somebody unseen behind all the happenings around us from dust to man, man to animals, animals to the entire eco-system: the firmaments, the oceans, the mountains the valleys, other millions of known and unknown planets?
The origin and validity of any nation's law/existence is traceable to her grund norm - the constitution of that country. Behind the constitution is the people all of whom you cannot number and cannot access and deal with individually!  Yet we are inter-related and connected!  Why don't we stop asking questions after BELIEVING (without bothering to prove the rightness or wrongness) that there's God and see.  Follow the God and then see what He will do with our lives?  What do we stand to gain believing in Him or disbelieving Him?  That's our next blog - The Best/Worst Analysis of Believing and Serving God or Disbelieving Him.
Good morning.

Best/Worst Analysis - Career

Should I work?

If you do, the best that will happen to you are:

- Whether you are a bachelor, widow, young person, Elder in the church, and so on, it is God’s will for you to work 1Tim.5:1ff
- Whether in the secular (carpentr) or ministry, Jesus worked/studied hard for 33 years for a ministry of 3.5 years which continues to glorify him till today. So if work you will eat and have to give to others to eat
- It is the work of your hand that God prospers so you must work
- God wants you to be a giver nor a receiver for life
- Your properity will give you honor at home and outside the home
- If you a man of God with your own flourishing chain of businesses, you will be an inspiration to members of your congregation.
- You will be able to cater for your own family and relatives
Paul was a great preacher but never depended upon church money. Instead he was giving church money! He was first a Lawyer before becoming a Pastor.
- Pastor Adeboye is a good example of a successful professional turned preacher - no wonder he could attract all strata of the society - a poor preacher cannot do that!
If you don't work,

- God will hate you because he hates lazy people. He calls them fools, lazy, sluggard, slothful so if you don't work, you become one.
- A lazy man will beg for bread
- A lazy man's wife, even his children will disown him
- A lazy man has no mouth in the affairs of his corporate family or community affairs. Even his good ideas are used and he is forgotten.
- A lazy man is perpetuallyis poor and lives in agony all through his life - Poverty is a curse. No amount of help will 'help'you until you labour with your own hands.
- A lazy man will steal, kill and destroy

Decision: It's a matter of choice too! If I were you I would opt-in for a career that will take me out of those God hates! Good morning.

Biblical support: Deut. 30:19-2119 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life m, so that you and your descendants might live!

Best/Worst Analysis for Marriage

Should I Marry? If you do the best that will happen to you are

- It is God’s will for you to study and ackquire knowledge Gen 2:24.
- Unless you decide not to, you will procreate so the world continues after you with someone immortalising your name and deeds
- If you are happily married, you will never be lonely so no boredom
- If your wife is enterprising, she will help boost your financial,
- Your employers, your society, clubs, etc will consider you responsibleState,
- If you treat your children well they will become your old-age insurance for proper and affectionate upkeep.
- You will walk tall in the society.

If you don't marry here are the worst that will happen:

- It is NOT against the will of God
- You may appear selfish
- You might be toying with your old-age comfort
- Society, employers, even friends might consider you irresponsible (even if you opt to be a Eunock for Christ!)
- You have deprived some people who want to come to the world opportunity to come. If you have children without marriage, you are still considered irresponsible anyway?
- If you marry a wrong wife, your life may be miserable throughout and your success ruined
- If you become polygamous, it is the worse for you because it will compound an otherwise bad situation. Eg, you can't aspire to serve God in Pastoral capacity unless you willingly reject the biblical truth and form your own church.
- Whatever legacies you have die with you.
- You will be under pressure from your parents and good friends till you are too old to do so.

Decision: Marriage, though risky, it is a risk worth taking! It is a choice still.

Biblical support: Deut. 30:19-2119 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

Best/Worst Analysis for Education

Should I go to school and take My Studies Seriously? If you do

Best

- It is God’s will for you to study and ackquire knowledge Hos. 4:6ff
- Jesus studied hard for 33 years for a ministry of 3.5 years which continues to glorify him till today.
- Education will open doors of opportunities for your now and in future and for your children's children.
- These opportunities, properly managed will translate to prosperity
- You will grow in stature beyond your direct parents' child to community, State, national and international status like Wole Soyinka, William Shakespeare, Chinua Achebe, President Obama, etc
- Because of exposure, you will stand among Kings, Presidents, etc and you even have the chances of becoming one something like a Nobel Laurete, a pride to your nation.
- Whatever you do, you will be intellectually sound enough to do it well and be able to meet with the right contacts.
- Even when you hide, people will seek after you!
- Uneducated people pursue opportunities but opportunities pursue brilliant people!

If you don't go to school or not serious with your studies

- God will hate you and your generations to come Hos. 4:6
- You'll be a fool for the Bible says it is no point wasting money training a fool because he has no heart to learning
- You will be a disgrace to your generation by not adding value to life
- You may end up being a drunkard, a roughian, an insignificant person in your family, community, nation or internationally, etc
- You your so-called desire to be great will be an illusion
- You may end up becoming a criminal
- Even if you end up becoming rich doing petty trading or menial jobs,
your wealth and ideas die with you because you cannot effectively transfer your supposedly good legacies.
- Decisions will be taken in your family without your input.

Decision: If I were you I would opt-in for education, and take my studies seriously, no matter my age.

Biblical support: Deut. 30:19-2119 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

Best/Worst Analysis of Holding Your Family Together (Deut. 30:19)

What are the best things that will happen to us if we our family together?

• It is God’s will. From Genesis to Revelation in the Bible, families hold themselves together. Isreal is Isreal today because Jacobs (renamed Israel) children held themselves together. Abraham held tight to Lot, his nephew - some self-centred Christians saw it as a problem! Jesus holds us together whether we whatever our race, tribe or tongue!
• African culture is built on LOVE - 'Be your brother's keeper"
o As a family unit, united we stand, divided we fall
o We shall better the lots of our community, State and nation.
. No intruder will be able to penetrate our family
o We'll produce glory producing children like Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, William Shakespeare, etc
What is the worst thing that can happen if we fail to hold our family together?
• Intruders will penetrate our midst and scatter us through gossip
• We’ll betray the confidence of our forefathers by becoming self-centred
• Our family will not be in a place of honour in our villages/towns/country.
• Love will disappear from us altogether envy ourselves instead of building ourselves
. Satan has come to steal, to kill and to destroy, failure to hold our families together will make Satan a winner!

Decision: Let’s all resolve to uphold our families no matter our glaring differences. Good morning.

Biblical support: Deut. 30:19-2119 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

Who Will Enter The Kingdom of Heaven?

In Matt 10:2-5 Jesus, trapped with the question of divorce wisely told his tempters that Moses permitted it because of the hardness of their hearts otherwise it shouldn’t happen at all. Saying otherwise even though it was the truth, would have been fatal. But when talking to his disciples in v. 11, he said point blank: “Whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery against her”! He owes them no duty of care because they are not his tempters; so, he is not interested in the ‘why’s’ of this world. He went ahead to tell them the fuller meaning “adultery” which in itself is a sin which we all know God hates, that we engage in it notwithstanding! In the subsequent verses when dealing with the rich man who thought he has fulfilled all righteousness through good works to qualify him for heaven, Jesus shocked him by saying his deeds alone would not save him. What would save him is to follow him i.e. have a genuine relationship with him, not his tithes, offerings, whether he is polygamous or monogamous, rich or poor, etc.

Then what are we talking about in Christianity and heavenly home?

The answer is simple: our good works and genuine relationship with God will generate God's grace to save us. All those saved all through history (except Jesus who was perfect), were sinners but they did their best in terms of work but more importantly had deep relationship with God. That’s the Moses, and David and Solomon, Jacob, notorious Paul the Apostle and other biblical examples we know about. Why not join them? How? Accept the Lord Jesus Christ. Read your Bible daily. Be guided by the Holy Spirit in everything you do. Good morning.

Best approaches to elders and youths

<1 Never speak harshly to an older man,* but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. 2 Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters. 1Tim.5:1-2

Older men and women are by virtue of their experience leaders in their own rights. They are people we should go to for guidance. Younger men and women are people whose destinies can be easily positively or negatively affected through how they relate with people, especially the elderly ones. Therefore, let the young ones heed the biblical advice above so they will not only live long but fulfil their God ordained destinies. Elders too should not provoke the younger ones! Good morning.

Our Beliefs will deliver our Success

“Anything is possible if a person believes.”Mark 8:23

Faith (belief) in God and in yourself; preparedness (determination) to pay the price (hard work) required to achieve your set goals in life and persistence in pursuing them without looking back (resilience) will guarantee your success more than any other contrary approaches you may have adopted or are adopting now. So have faith in God and in yourself. Good morning.

Fear and faith

"Fear and faith are the same thing from two opposite ends. While fear is the belief that something negative is about to happen, faith is the belief that something positive is about to happen."
When the four lepers advanced towards the camp of the Syrian army expecting the worst, they were shocked to have their breakthrough with no single soldier in sight. Some of the things you are afraid of are incapable of delivering their threat. Also, never stop your advance because of something you are afraid of. Continue to march forward especially when God leads you in that direction. In addition, we learn that behind that fear is your breakthrough. As long as you are afraid, you may never hit your breakthrough. What are you afraid of? What is that thing you dread so much that has made you to stop your advance? Drop it! That fear has no substance but faith has substance. Start to expect that the situation will turn around for your good and it shall be so. Expect the best. Reject every thought of failure, disappointment, dryness, delay or death. Around that bend lies your greatest joy. The chicken-hearted cannot access their blessings because of fear. If you are afraid, the Lord will set you free from this tormenting spirit. Read the Word of God and meditate daily on it. It will help to increase your faith. Separate from people, things and activities that can fuel fear and doubt in you.

Leadership By Example

"The shepherd cares for the sheep. Some leaders are so stingy that one kobo cannot drop for a needy sheep from their pockets, yet they keep preaching that you should help the poor. They are hypocrites! Let your flock see you leading even in the area of assisting those in need." By Pastor E.A. Adeboye Open Heavens October 18th

This is food for thought for all leaders, whether in the church, family, office etc. Good morning.

Returning Home

As it is in heaven, so it is on earth. There are always two homes to return wherever we go. The first is our heavenly home after the long/short sojourn in this planet. Nobody likes to return there. But whether we like it or not we must.

Our second home is our village. Many people don't like to return there. It is wrong. We all should return there. Wherever else we go, we are strangers. It is even sad when we have to die and be buried in lands other than where we were born. It's like coming to this world and not returning to heaven. Dead or alive, we should return to our homes. Even before we die, more importantly let us return there to form part of her development.Consider returning home at some point in your life and start by regularly paying visits there and forming part of her growth. Good morning.

The Herodias' Legacies

“I will give you whatever you ask, up to half my kingdom!” 24 She went out and asked her mother, “What should I ask for?” Her mother told her, “Ask for the head of John the Baptist!” 25 So the girl hurried back to the king and told him, “I want the head of John the Baptist, right now, on a tray!” John 6:22-25.

An interesting story of two Herodias (wicked mother, thoughtless daughter!) They both left legacies of sorrow! What sort of a mother are you? What sort of a child are you?

The Choice is Yours - God Does not Foce People

19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! 20 You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This* is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Deut. 30:19.

God has the power to compel us to do His bid. But He will not do that because he wants us to have a say in the affairs of our lives. That's why the above quotation is important to us all. You are a product of your choices in life. So, choose right. Good morning.

Soldier and Police Corruption, Their Biblical Bases

Soldiers (Matt. 28:13-15)

A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. 13 They told the soldiers, “You must say, ‘Jesus’ disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.’ 14 If the governor hears about it, we’ll stand up for you so you won’t get in trouble.” 15 So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.

Police (Matt. 5:25-26)

25 “When you are on the way to court with your adversary, settle your differences quickly. Otherwise, your accuser may hand you over to the judge, who will hand you over to an officer, and you will be thrown into prison. 26 And if that happens, you surely won’t be free again until you have paid the last penny.*

Yet it is still prevalent till today! Good morning.

Dangers of Scheming

"According to lessons learnt from David's choice as king of Israel recorded in 1 Samuel 16:6-13, the one Heaven will anoint for significant assignments must be recommended by God. Similarly, the fellow must not be a position seeker. David was not seeking for the position of king, yet the Almighty God grabbed him and said, 'You will be king'. Whenever you see someone scheming one way or another to get ordained or to be considered for some important appointments in God's house, you can be sure that fellow is not chosen by God. Anyone truly chosen by God who hears that he or she is being considered for ordination, or any higher assignment will be humbled and would want to reject it. If he has the opportunity of dodging that appointment, he will gladly do so. If you examine those God called in the Bible - Moses, Joshua, Jeremiah, etc, they always asked, 'Lord, who am I that you would choose me for this assignment?' When God says He wants to ordain them, they would ask God to look for somebody else. God has a warning for those who scheme, manipulate or bribe their way into spiritual positions and promotions. "And seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest". It simply means putting yourself where God has not placed you can bring you a myriad of problems. Be wise."
Culled from Pastor E.A. Adeboye's Open Heavens of October 18th 2009

God is talking to somebody this morning who is a specialist in scheming for positions in their offices, families, churches, clubs, societies, etc. If you schemed yourself to attain the positions you currently occupy anywhere or have become an all-time schemer, ask God for forgiveness and ask Him to redirect your steps towards His purpose for your life. It is on in His purpose that you can succeed without sorrow added. Good morning.

Scoffers Don't Experience Breakthrough

Jesus did many more miracles everywhere except in his home town and amongst his own family. All his miracles were in foreign lands. Then he concluded “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.”

For you to record the breakthroughs, it is advisable you distinguish between the person you know in the physical and the person God intends to use to bless you and get glued to the latter irrespective of how familiar you think you have been to him or her. He may be your son, brother, sister, husband, auntie, Pastor, brethren, it doesn't matter. Also, don't get unnecessarily angry over their capability for it is God's gift for them. When you are angry, you losing the more! Good morning.

There’s appropriate Timing for Everything

“The time promised by God has come at last!” he (Jesus) announced before he finally started his ministry.
Planning always take the greater part of any project than its execution. Jesus spent 30 years preparing for a ministry that will last for only three and a half years but have ETERNAL effect upon the entire world! Learning from Jesus, therefore, if we want to succeed in anything, it is instructive that we check the appropriateness of the timing for whatever we intend to do and spend more time planning than rushing to execute them.

How do you know the timing is up? God may speak to you directly (audibly or through the Bible, through dreams, visions etc); He may use others (your Pastor, neighbour, unbelievers, believers, parents, teachers, friends, films you watch, books you read, things happening around you, etc); You may suddenly become restless about the project; you may feel unhappy unless you do something about it, everything surrounding you will tell you to PROCEED. When these convictions are overwhelming, then proceed. Will it be smooth? It may and it may not. Either way it does not mean that the timing is wrong. If it is tough, God will strengthen you if it is smooth, then it is a bonus. What's important is go ahead and do it. So to everything there's an appointed time!
(Eccl.3:1ff). Good morning.

What should polygamous people do with their extra wives?

Polygamy or monogamy, is not a condition-precedent for salvation! It is God who determines who is to be saved. BUT IT IS AGAINST BIBLICAL TEACHING THAT A POLYGAMIST BECOMES A PASTOR in the church - a serious limitation to serving God.

The irony of it all is that a monogamist Pastor who does not obey God may go to hell while a polygamous member of his congregation who has good relationship with God receive the grace for salvation!

So, you haven’t fallen into it, do yourself a favour, don’t fall into the booby trap of polygamy! The inevitable distractions (unfair treatments, pressures, quarrels, misunderstandings, etc) may pave way for living in hell on earth and eventually end you up in eternal hell because you are most likely to always be particularly angry and anger prima facie, sound parameter to go to hell (see Gal. 5:19-21).

Now as a man if, for whatever reasons, you find yourself in it. What do you do? If you really want to grow in the spirit and aspire to become a Pastor in a Bible believing Church, you must reduce the number of your wives to one - your very first wife even if she's a devil! Yes, it is a difficult decision to make, but what the Bible says. It is called restitution. Great men of God e.g. the founder of RCCG, Late Pa Akindayomi did it for the passion he had for Christ. Yes, they might have serious repercussions so the restitution itself must be properly handled and Holy spirit guided. The approach must be equitable to all (the outgoing wives in particular). If they are still marriable, they can re-marry but if not it is just fair that the man continues to provide for their needs in all things but two: living together as husband and wives and engaging in sexual relations. The children in the relationship remain the man's legitimate children for every child is God's child. The man must continue to be responsible for their needs till they become independent. Therefore All parties to it must be made to understand why and voluntarily agree to it otherwise it will lead to negative consequences.

Another important point is this: Restitution is not exactly "divorce" in the negative sense of the word. At the very best, it is ‘separation’ and separated people can still be friends if they carry Holy Ghost in them. It’s all about the sacrifice to right what is wrong. Good morning.

Attract, don’t repel people

"When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door.

Many Christians homes today are as dry as the dessert. That was not Jesus' approach. By his good deeds, he always attracted people to himself. It is not to gain popularity, but it naturally follows that if you do good people will always be attracted to you as it was to him. He only isolates himself when he needs a break to commune with his Father.
It is better to be sought after by people than to be isolated by them. Good morning.

Don't Run Away From Favour

The story the demon-possessed man (Mark 5:1-15ff) who sleeps in the caves and could not be controlled is instructive to us all who consider ourselves sane. He came to Jesus, bowed to him and in Mark 4:15 and was perfectly healed. He became himself and followed Christ.

But sadly those who were considered‘sane’ became insane by ordering Jesus out of their lives instead of embracing him like the mad man did. We all (the writer inclusive) see many signs and wonders that would have saved our lives as Jesus did to the mad man or people whom God would have used to help us fulfil our destinies. However, instead of bowing to Jesus to help us mend our ways, and move closer to our helpers, like the mad man did, we revolt against him or runs and run away from them. We continue in our old ways like those who saw Jesus did. In spite of whom we are, may God just have mercy upon us. May His unfailing love combined with His grace deliver us from doom and if need be (FORCE) us to attain our earthly and heavenly destinies in Jesus name. Good morning.

Did Joseph Become a Prime Minister because of his Righteousness?

“How can I do this evil against my God?” Many preachers have continued to emphasise that it was the righteous act by avoiding to have an affair with Portipha’s wife that eventually led to Joseph becoming a Prime Minister in Egypt. No, it is the fear of the Lord in Him which upturned that temptation. It is different from where God was taking him - his pre-ordained destiny! So, it is not this ‘work’itself otherwise many of us are more disciplined and self-righteous than Joseph. David wasn’t righteous at all but in his weakest position, he had good relationship with God because he feared Him. David fulfilled his destiny in spite of his weaknesses.

If our ‘works’ or ‘self-righteousness were considered exclusively, none of us would have gotten to where we already are in life talkless of fulfilling the greater and better destinies ahead of us.
The writer’s submission is: let us develop good relationship with God. It will become easier for us to do righteous. However, the fulfilment of our earthly and heavenly destinies have been pre-destined (remember Joseph's dream) and will be only achieved by the HIS GRACE obtainable through His unfailing love and mercies. Good morning.

Having Difficulties Arriving At a Decision?

Life is full of choices. Our parents took a decision before we were born. They took a decision whether to send us to or not. We took the decision whether to obey them by excelling or failing out of the school. We take a decision whether to work or not or even become a criminal or not; we take a decision on the career to take to. We decide whether we should marry or not ourselves; whether or not to bring forth children; invest our or waste them; care for our parents or not. Serve God or not. The writer of this post decided to post it!

All these have repercussions on us, good or bad.

Are you having difficulty reaching a decision on any issue, apply Ben Carson's B/W Analysis approach. It is called BEST, WORSE or WORST BEST ANALYSIS.

For instance to marry or not ask yourself,

What is the best thing that will happen to me if I got married?
Ans: I will become responsible; I will have a companion; it is the will of God; I will be able to produce children named after me; I will be able saved from sexual temptations. At old age, I will my children will cater for me.

What is the worst thing that can happen to me?

I will take on more responsibilities directly or indirectly (higher feeding, dealing with extended family challenges, faced with challenges of parenting. If my wife is incompatible with me, then I am in trouble for the rest of my life. If I divorce her, my life will never remain the same; I must provide for my family compulsorily; Even if we are compatible, we may face some unpleasant challenges such that we have to tolerate ourselves if not our relationship will pack up; and so on. If I marry inter-tribally, my wife might not settle in my village at my old age.

If I don't marry at all what is the best thing to happen to me:

Ans. I have ONLY to myself, maybe my parents, siblings and extended families and community, If I so desire, to cater for So no less stress for me.

If I don't marry at all what is the worst thing that can happen to me
Loneliness at old age. Appear irresponsible in my active days and my life may be miserable because I have no companion. I will likely frolic around women to satisfy my sexual urges, through that produce children that will become problems to my society.

Then take a decision. Whatever decision you arrive at, those things you forsee will be waiting for you as you journey through life. As they arise, you prepare for their solutions. Don't ever take any decision without considering the B/W Analysis. That's what Ben Cars, a reknowned international Neurosurgeon uses even to take decisions on whether or not to cary out brain surgery on all his patients. He adds prayers. And they have resulted in his success! Good morning.

There's No Blissful Marriage!

Spinsters & Bachelors, I know you are anxious to get married!  You've spotted that 'angelic' spirit-filled man or woman of God.  Day and night you dream of him or her!  Indeed nothing is sweeter than him or her in your life anymore!  Your marriage will be 'blissful'!

Good thinking!  Let me first advise you that MARRIAGE itself is only but a NECESSARY RISK.  Whether there's a blissful marriage or not, ask those who are already in it. Read the newspapers, surf  the (visit http://www.onlinedivorce.com/ ) for statistics, go to the law courts for details of past/ongoing divorce cases.  Above all, ask our wise King Solomon what led him to 700/300 wife/concubineship!

Why is there no blissful marriage? It is so because every marriage is like a voyage in the ocean, some portions of the oceans are peaceful, some turbulent.  Every marriage must pass through its own wilderness where there are mannas, serpents, valleys, mountains, swamp, desserts and thick forests etc. Sometimes, water must come out of the rocks to continue in relationship!  Only those who are prepared for these challenges will succeed in it!  Want yours to succeed?  Order your copy of my books: "Now That You Are Married, Make It Work"  and for singles: "This Think Called Marriage"
